- Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Typically gained by at least four years of professional work experience as an accountant, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR an Associate's degree in accounting AND at least two years of professional work experience as an accountant or equivalent.
- Experience developing and preparing financial documents. Typically gained by at least one year of full-time work experience.
- Experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze and report on financial data as a regularly assigned job duty. (Experience tracking personal finances and using home financial software would not qualify.) Due to the rapidly changing information systems, your experience must be within the last five years.

- Develop and maintain accounting systems.
- Research and analyze financial documents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and accounting principles.
- Conduct meetings to discuss financial-related issues that have the potential to be controversial, adversarial, or confidential in nature.
- Conduct interviews to solicit sensitive and/or confidential financial information.
- Develop and prepare complex financial documents such as financial statements, budgets and cost analysis.
- Audit financial data for completeness and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Utilize current information technology to analyze, research, and maintain financial data, develop financial documents, and resolve problems.
- Analyze technical financial problems and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions.
- Provide overall fiscal and budget support to the Finance Office and to budget managers and support staff throughout the college. This will include financial data to allow for verification and internal control support.

- Perform cost analysis and maintain detailed records
- Prepare financial reports as necessary for grantors
- Coordinate with grant/contract managers to update plans, submit revisions, prepare invoices and close out grants
- Monitor revenue, verify expenditures for appropriateness, ensure compliance, and make adjustments as necessary
- Track and analyze expenditures and balances, working with budget managers to resolve any issues or discrepancies
- Calculate and prepare paperwork for indirect entries
- Prepare and submit invoices for Federal, State, and local grants and assist with drawing down revenue funds for grants and/or contracts
- Provide overall fiscal and budget support to the Finance Office and to budget managers and support staff throughout the college. This will include financial data to allow for verification and internal control support.
